I am Victor. I am with my wife, Emma Li, and our three children. Richard is almost 6, Charles is 3 years old and Cathy is three months old.

It is a privilege to be the owners of Evelyn Street Day School. My wife and I love everything about the daycare center, that it is green, has an amazing staff and education program. It is a lovely school. The children and families are awesome!

I was in the trading business, which required me to travel a lot. I had also worked at the university level in the past. When my wife and I had our first child, Richard, we decided to engage in a new career. We looked at our child, so precious, and realized we wanted to own a business centered around children. In 2016 we purchased our first daycare center. Evelyn Street is our second location.

It is our hope that all of the children here will feel a lot of joy and will experience a lot of social, emotional and cognitive growth while in our care. We care about the whole child, their happiness and the happiness of their parents, too.

Thank you, parents, for all of your support.

Best Regards,
Victor Zheng

Editor’s Note: ESDS was founded by an educator in the belief that every child benefits from a clear and thoughtful, interesting and engaging program and this is what ESDS provides. It is every administrator and teacher’s aim here that the students will grow and achieve success and, as a result, gain in confidence.

Blanka Sylvester
Blanka SylvesterDirector or Operation, Head Administrator
Hi. My name is Blanka Sylvester. I am an educator and mother of twin boys. I am thrilled to be a part of the Evelyn Street Day School team and its unique educational program.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Literature and Elementary Education from a New Jersey college. I am a certified NJ Elementary School Teacher with over 20 years of experience working with children of all ages. In addition, I received a Certification in Non-Profit Leadership during my last assignment as an Executive Director of a language and cultural center in New York City, where I worked for the past 16 years. In 2007, I was recognized as a Distinguished Community Leader by the Foreign Diplomatic Community in NYC for single-handedly developing and successfully managing a cultural and language program consisting of 160 children.

My goal as an ESDS administrator is to provide a safe, loving, and enriching environment for children who enter our daycare. I believe children learn the most through play and interacting with their peers while giving them opportunities to grow, learn, and explore. ESDS provides a top notch education program, age-appropriate structure and consistency that is essential for our students to successfully graduate into Kindergarten.

My Motto: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” (Winston Churchill).

Doreen Stella
Doreen StellaDirector of Curriculum and Personnel
Hello. My name is Doreen Stella. I am one of the assistant directors.
I have been in the early childhood education field nearly 20 years. I spent most of those years in the classroom as a head teacher. I was also an assistant director prior to joining Evelyn Street Day School.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from New Jersey City University. I was a speech and language therapist for the Union City Board of Education for a decade prior to transitioning to full time parenting. I am conversant in American Sign Language.

I also happen to be the Sign Language teacher for the school. I find it delightful to teach sign language to the children and later walk by a classroom and see them using Signs outside of that teaching time. Children are fast learners! And I love it when parents ask me what certain signs mean – that’s because children are using signs at home.

I have three grown daughters and one of them is a teacher.

My motto: Don’t say I can’t. Say, I need help.
